- Identify and clarify the presenting problem/s with the patient.
- Undertake a problem focused medical history including: identification of current and past health issues and the impact of the presenting problem via social history & mental health status.
- Perform a targeted and relevant examination following patient consent.
- Synthesise information obtained from the history and examination.
- Generate a valid differential diagnosis and problem list.
- Document the patient assessment.
- Provide accurate and clear information to the patient, carers and the health care team.
- Apply knowledge in the context of the provision of patient care as an intern.
- Demonstrate patient-centred care with patients at different life stages and with a range of health needs, Ex. paediatric, geriatric, maternal, psychiatric.

Each intern during their rotation is expected to:
- Be a professional and effective team member.
- Provide safe patient care.
- Conduct a history and perform a physical examination.
- Prepare a list of differential diagnoses, working diagnoses, appropriate investigations, and a management plan.
- Seek approval from the clinical supervisor ,prior to executing the plan.
- Follow and document the management plan, results of investigations any changes in the patient’s condition.
- Adhere to the rules and regulations of the practice.
At the end of Internship, is able to:
- Diagnose and manage diseases by applying the basic medical & clinical sciences effectively in practice.
- Provide comprehensive management that includes health care and disease prevention.
- Demonstrate effective role as a team member and apply the principles of multidisciplinary approach.
- Know when to ask for opinion from clinical supervisors and senior colleagues. Deal professionally with the patient and family.
- Show effective tools in communication, presentation and leadership.
- Apply the principles of clinical governance.
- Demonstrate life-long commitment toward CME.
